TAU: INTERNATIONAL CAREER IN FOCUS

Percy Tau has a very good record in front of goal in the colours of the Bafana Bafana of South Africa. He has scored 13 goals in 32 appearances for South Africa when it comes to senior team football on the international stage.

TS GALAXY SIGN ATTACKING TALENT

Dstv Premiership outfit TS Galaxy have boosted their squad with the signing of a new striker from fellow South African side Mamelodi Sundowns. Keletso Makgalwa has left Mamelodi Sundowns of South Africa to join TS Galaxy. Mamelodi Sundownswon the league title in the top flight in South Africa last season, but Makgalwa was not available as he was out of the club on loan. Last season, Makgalwa was on loan at Swallows FC and he played 22 times for the club.

Makgalwa has left Sundowns on loan again. He has left the club to join fellow South African team TS Galaxy on loan. The striker is a native of South Africa and he has signed for Galaxy on a season-long loan.25-year-old Makgalwa would be hoping to perform well while he’s on loan at TS Galaxy so as to boost his standing at Sundowns. S/AFRICA START AFCON QUALIFIERS WITH DEFEAT

South Africa missed out on the last edition of the African Cup of Nations (AFCON)tournament in Cameroon despite the fact that 24 teams qualified for the tournament. The 1996 AFCON winners would be hoping to appease their fans by making it to the next AFCON edition in Ivory Coast billed for next year.


The South Africans were drawn in Group K of the 2023 AFCON tournament alongside World Cup-bound Morocco, Zimbabwe and Liberia. Zimbabwe were suspended from the AFCON 2023 qualifiers after they were hammered with a FIFA ban thus leaving Morocco, Liberia and South Africa as the teams jostling for two spots in Group K.

CHIEFS, TWO OTHERS IN VILAKAZI CHASE

South African football giants Kaizer Chiefs are keen on signing midfielder Sibusiso ‘Vila’ Vilakazi. However, they are not the only South Africa top flight team interested in the 32-year-old. It has been reported that over South Africa top flight teams such as Super Sport United and AmaZulu are also eyeing a transfer for the player.


The interest of Soweto Derby outfit Kaizer Chiefs in South Africa international Vilakazi was previously revealed by media outlet The South African. SUNDOWNS DUO OUT OF CAFCL GAME

The MamelodiSundowns duo of Gift Motupa and PavolSanfranco have been ruled out of the CAF Champions League (CAFCL) group stage clash with Al-MerreikhFC of Sudan this weekend. Sundowns are one of the biggest teams in South Africa and they are representing the country in the CAF Champions League this year. MamelodiSundowns FC of South Africa and Sudanese club Al-Merreikh are in Group A of this season’s CAF Champions League.

The absence of attacking talents Sanfranco and Motupa for the Al-Merreikh game on Saturday due to injury was confirmed by MamelodiSundowns FC of South Africa co-coach RulaniMokwena. The two abovementioned players will miss the Al-Merreikh game alongside Gaston Sirino who had earlier been ruled out due to injury.

AMAZULU, CHIEFS DO BATTLE FOR BWALYA

Two clubs from South Africa are set to do battle for Zambian midfielder Larry Bwalya who plays his club football for Simba SC in the Tanzanian league. The interest of the two clubs was revealed by African media publication Kickoff. The two teams in question are AmaZulu and Kaizer Chiefs.

Chiefs and AmaZulu are keen to lure Simba SC star Bwalya from Tanzania to South Africa. The target for the two teams from South Africa is the January transfer window. They want to sign the Zambian player when the transfer window starts again next month.

AL AHLY OFFER WAS IRRESISTIBLE – TAU

South African striker Percy Tau disclosed that it was impossible to turn down Egyptian club football giants Al Ahly after they made an offer for him. Tau said this in a chat with reporters while he was on national team duty with South Africa ahead of their latest set of World Cup qualifiers earlier this month.

OLYMPICS: NO TAU FOR SOUTH AFRICA

Brighton and Hove Albion attacker Percy Tau has been left out of the South African squad for the football event at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics starting later this month. He misses the final cut despite being named in the preliminary squad by Olympic team manager David Notoane.

Tau didn’t make the final Olympics squad for South Africa after Brighton turned down the request to release him for the Olympics this summer. Clubs are not obliged to release their players for the football event at the Olympics as it’s not officially recognised by world’s football body, FIFA. Left-footed attacker Tau is the biggest footballer in South Africa and his absence would be a big loss for the South African team.

TAU NOT KEEN ON CAPTAINCY

Brighton and Hove Albion striker Percy Tau has revealed that he has not thought about the captaincy role for the BafanaBafana of South Africa. He talked about the South African national team captaincy role while speaking with journalists recently as monitored by Soccer Laduma.

TAU MISSES OUT ON STALEMATE

South Africa national team player Percy Tau was not in the Brighton and Hove Albion squad for their last Premier League clash. He was absent as the Seagulls played out a drab goalless affair with European hopefuls Everton at home.

Tau has not been a part of the Brighton squad since he played for South Africa in the 2021 African Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers last month. He could not help South Africa to book a place at the tournament proper in Cameroon at the start of next year.
